I didn’t take a babymoon myself, but if I could go back in time, I totally would! I’ve visited a lot of fun and relaxing places within a few hours of Annapolis that made me think—this would’ve been perfect for a quiet weekend to rest and reconnect. Whether you’re drawn to the beach, the mountains, or something in between, here are a few spots I’ve been to (or have my eye on) that could make great babymoon destinations near Annapolis.

Peaceful Luxury Retreat Near Annapolis

Salamander Resort & Spa – Middleburg, VA

Drive Time: ~3 hours
I haven’t stayed here myself, but I’ve seen it mentioned a lot in Facebook groups when people ask about babymoon spots. It looks beautiful and relaxing, with spa options that include prenatal massage. It seems like the kind of place where you could enjoy a quiet weekend together, without being totally in the middle of nowhere. The nearby town is walkable, and the outdoor firepits seem like a nice touch for winding down in the evening.

Coastal Escapes Worth the Drive

Drive Time: ~2.5 hours
I haven’t been to Rehoboth yet, but it comes up often when people ask about nearby beach getaways. It looks like a good mix of laid-back and walkable, with a boardwalk, good food, and frozen custard from Kohr Bros that everyone seems to love. If you’re looking for a beach that’s easy and not too busy, this would be a great choice!

Drive Time: ~3.5 hours
This is a place that’s been on my list for a while. Wild horses, quiet beaches, and not much else. It sounds like a slow, peaceful kind of day—bring your own lunch, take a walk, and just hang out by the water for a bit. No schedule, no noise, just space to relax.

Quiet Forest Retreats to Slow Down

Drive Time: ~3.5 hours
I found Postcard while researching for this post, and I’m definitely adding it to the list of places I want to go. The cabins are small and modern, tucked into the woods near Shenandoah. It looks like a calm, comfortable place to slow down for a couple of days. No Wi-Fi, no TV—just time to rest, read, and maybe head out for a short hike.

Drive Time: ~3.5 hours
I drive through Deep Creek pretty often on the way to visit family, and every time I think, “I really need to plan a weekend here!’ It’s a pretty stretch of lake and woods, and there are tons of places to stay; from cozy cabins to resorts. It seems like one of those places that’s peaceful but still gives you options – you could sit by the lake, paddle out if the weather’s nice, take a short hike, or just hang out and enjoy the peace & quiet.

Mountain Babymoon Destinations Near Annapolis

Drive Time: ~2.5 hours
I hadn’t really considered Berkeley Springs until I started digging into more mountain-ish options nearby. It’s a small town known for its natural springs, with a few cozy inns and mountain views. The vibe looks quiet and unhurried, and the idea of soaking in a mineral bath before grabbing takeout sounds pretty great. If you’re looking for something low-key and a little different, this one might be worth a look.

Drive Time: ~1.5 hours
Harpers Ferry is one of those places I keep coming back to when I’m looking at weekend ideas. I haven’t made it there yet, but it looks like a great mix of views, short trails, and a charming downtown that’s easy to walk through. As a photographer, I’m drawn to spots like this; I’d love to see what beautiful images I could create here.

City Getaways Near Annapolis for a Babymoon

Drive Time: ~2.5 hours
Philly is a bigger city, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. It’s pretty easy to get around and has a lot to offer without the stress of a huge metro area. On our last trip, we took in some of the historic sites, spent a while wandering through Reading Terminal Market, and grabbed cheesesteaks from Jim’s on South St. If you’re visiting in season, catching a Phillies game could be a fun add-on too. It’s the kind of city where you can keep it simple and still feel like you’ve done something special – definitely one of the more underrated babymoon destinations near Annapolis.

Drive Time: ~1 hour
DC is close and easy to get to, which makes it great for a quick overnight trip. I’d recommend booking a luxury hotel—something with soft robes, good room service, and maybe a deep tub. You can do rooftop mocktails, wander through the National Arboretum or a museum, and then head back to relax. It’s a nice way to feel like you’re getting away without going too far.

Some Babymoon Tips

  • Go during the second trimester when energy is up and discomfort is down.
  • Call ahead to double check that any spa treatments are safe for pregnancy.
  • Pack stretchy clothes, snacks, and pillows to make the drive comfy.

If you’re thinking about a babymoon destination near Annapolis, it doesn’t have to be far or fancy. A couple days away in a place that helps you breathe a little deeper can be just right. And if you’re hoping to document this season, I’d love to help. I offer relaxed, natural maternity and family sessions that are all about celebrating your family’s story. If that sounds like your style, let’s talk.
